The official name is the "United Arab Emirates" (UAE), also referred to as "The Emirates". The name is spelled in Arabic as Al-Imarat Al-Arabiyah Al-Muttahida, Al-Imarat or Emarat.

Abu Dhabi City is the capital of Abu Dhabi Emirate and the federal capital of UAE. Other major cities in UAE are the capitals of the other Emirates: Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm-al-Qaiwain and Ajman.

Oil and gas are the most important sectors of the UAE economy. Other sectors are also well-developed, such as the services, trading, construction and tourism sectors. UAE attracts lots of visitors each year, who come for business, shopping and tourism. UAE hotels, restaurants and services are of top international levels.

The population of UAE is around 5 millions (over 80% of the population are non-Emaratis). The main spoken languages are Arabic, English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Persian.
